Collagen-Based Bioactive Bromelain Hydrolysate from Salt-Cured Cod Skin

نویسندگان

چکیده

Considerable amounts of fish processing by-products are discarded each year. About 30% this material may be skin and bone. Fish has more than 80% its total protein content as collagen. Furthermore, in recent years, there been a growing demand for collagen-based peptides due to their beneficial health effects. So, the objective present study was optimise obtaining bioactive hydrolysates from salt-cured cod using protease Bromelain at 0.5% (w/w) concentration. This developed sustainable process that consumes less time energy uses an alternative source raw material. In addition, bromelain allows with important antioxidant (ORAC, 514 ?mol Trolox Equivalent/g protein) antihypertensive activities (inhibition ACE, IC50 166 ?g protein/mL) well excellent biocompatibility dermal subcutaneous cells.

Collagen hydrolysate intake increases skin collagen expression and suppresses matrix metalloproteinase 2 activity.

The effect of daily ingestion of collagen hydrolysate (CH) on skin extracellular matrix proteins was investigated. Four-week-old male Wistar rats were fed a modified AIN-93 diet containing 12% casein as the reference group or CH as the treatment group. A control group was established in which animals were fed a non-protein-modified AIN-93 diet. The diets were administered continuously for 4 wee...

Collagen–based scaffolds for skin tissue engineering

The aim of this study was to obtain four collagen based porous scaffolds and to assess their in vitro biocompatibility and biodegradability in order to use them for skin tissue engineering. We have prepared four variants of collagen-based biodegradable sponges by liophilization of type I collagen solution and three variants of collagen-agarose mixture in different ratios 2:1 (A), 1:1 (B) and 1:...

Healing Potential of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Cultured on a Collagen-Based Scaffold for Skin Regeneration

Background: Wound healing of burned skin remains a major goal in public health. Previous reports showed that the bone marrow stem cells were potent in keratinization and vascularization of full thickness skin wounds. Methods: In this study, mesenchymal stem cells were derived from rat adipose tissues and characterized by flowcytometry. Staining methods were used to evaluate their differentiatio...

Research Article: Isolation, characterization and biocompatibility evaluation of collagen from Thunnus tonggol skin

Acid-soluble collagen could be isolated from fish skin using acetic acid. In recent years, much attention has been paid to collagen from marine sources, mainly arising from the fact that there is no risk of contagious diseases. Moreover, by processing the fish, significant amounts of waste materials are produced which can be considered as a substitute for these collagen sources. Thunnus tonggol...

Oral intake of specific bioactive collagen peptides reduces skin wrinkles and increases dermal matrix synthesis.

Dietary consumption of food supplements has been found to modulate skin functions and can therefore be useful in the treatment of skin aging. However, there is only a limited number of clinical studies supporting these claims. In this double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the effectiveness of the specific bioactive collagen peptide (BCP) VERISOL® on eye wrinkle formation and stimulation of pr...
